Learn moreAtty. Rico Rentuza is a United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) candidate for Congressman for the lone district of Southern Leyte. He was the municipal mayor of Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte from 2007 to 2013. Rico previously served as consultant to DILG Undersecretary Joselito Ruiz and Professor of Law at the University of San Carlos and Southwestern University before seeking the congressional seat for Southern Leyte. He lives in Himbangan, Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte with his wife Myra and their children.
Rico earned his Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines College of Law in Diliman, Quezon City in 1997. He is an alumnus of the University of San Carlos, Cebu City where he earned his Political Science degree and graduated Cum Laude. He was the Valedictorian of Cristo Rey Regional High School in 1989 and the Salutatorian of Saint Bernard Central Elementary School in 1985.

Under Rico’s leadership, Saint Bernard won the Gawad Kalasag Award for the years 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 as Best Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council for 4th to 5th Class Municipalities.
As mayor, Saint Bernard was nominated (top three) to the United Nations Sasakawa Award in 2013 for its best practice in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
